FAMEHUNGRY

The Social Issue

Louise Orwin presents FAMEHUNGRY - a production exploring the idea of an increasingly digitised world of screens and social media. It asks what happens to art, to childhood, and to our sense of self and others in a world where social media rules.

The work was made in collaboration with Dr Amy Orben, a Cambridge scientist and researcher, whose work looks into the effect of social media and digital culture on young people.

FAMEHUNGRY aims to bring awareness, understanding and critical thinking to a knotty problem. Louise’s hope is that people come away from the production knowing more about the world that she is exploring in the show, and that this informs the approach they have to social media beyond this.

Louise wants to draw attention to the big corporations and infrastructures at play in this world who to her mind continually prioritise the bottom line over people/care.

“My hope is that the work is informative and that people leave wanting to learn more.”
